World premiere presented as part of the celebration of the cooperation agreement for the development of cultural and creative industries between the cities of Cannes and Busan.
No Matter, created in collaboration with the Busan International Dance Festival, is a response to the piece Boys don't cry, in which Hervé Koubi questioned the freedom to be oneself. With No Matter, the choreographer invites ten Korean dancers to “take power” in a tribute to the heroines of everyday life, history and popular culture, whether they existed or were dreamt of.
- Quote from the Art DirectorHervé Koubi captivates audiences the world over! Cannes is honouring him by presenting a piece from his repertoire and a new work created with Korean artists.
- Company and choreographerHervé Koubi
Trained at the ESDC Rosella Hightower, Hervé Koubi has notably danced for Claude Brumachon and Benjamin Lamarche, Karine Saporta and Thierry Smits (CieThor). From 2000 onwards, he created several pieces and at the same time set off to Algeria in search of his roots. His choreographies - including, in 2013, the emblematic Ce que le jour doit à la nuit (What day owes to night) - are conceived in connection with the territories, combining collective writing with the various dance traditions, particularly urban and popular, that have nurtured his career. - Mandatory informationProduction : Compagnie Hervé Koubi - Busan International Dance Festival
