- Quote from the Art DirectorWithout doubt the most exhilarating show of the Festival!
The relentless succession of dance sequences, music and stage effects, served up by an incredibly dynamic cast, has us spellbound! - Company and choreographerThe National Ballet of Spain
Founded in 1978 with Antonio Gades at the helm, the Spanish National Ballet has been under the artistic direction of dancer and choreographer Rubén Olmo since 2019. While maintaining a traditional repertoire based on flamenco and the Spanish classical dance school escuela bolera, the company has also opened up to the new generation of contemporary choreographers. A case in point is its ‘Generaciones’ programme, created in 2022 and featuring works by Antonio Canales, Antonio Rúz, Jesús Carmona, Alberto Lorca and Ruben Olmo.
Marcos Morau
Marcos Morau studied theatre, photography and choreography at the Conservatorio Superior de Valencia and at Movement Research in New York. After working as an assistant at Nederlands Dans Theater II and the IT Dansa company, he founded La Veronal in 2005. While his original movement vocabulary, known as Kova, deconstructs and disarticulates movement in the service of the imaginary, his creations are great imagined frescoes that call on dance as well as cinema, theatre and painting, making his company an exception on the international scene. - Mandatory informationThe Spanish National Ballet is a production unit of INAEM (National Institute of Performing Arts and Music), which is part of the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
